Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup small sago pearls
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups milk (you can use dairy or plant-based milk)
- 1/4 cup condensed milk or sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup fruit-flavored jelly cubes (optional)
- Ice cubes, for serving
- Fresh fruits for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
-
Cook the Sago Pearls: Start by rinsing the sago pearls under cold water to remove any excess starch. Then, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the rinsed sago pearls to the boiling water and cook them for about 10-15 minutes or until they turn translucent, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Once cooked, remove from heat and rinse the sago pearls under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
-
Prepare the Jelly (Optional): If you're using fruit-flavored jelly cubes, prepare them according to the instructions on the package. Allow the jelly to set in the refrigerator until firm, then cut it into small cubes. Set aside.
-
Mix the Milk Mixture: In a separate saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat. Stir in the condensed milk or sugar, adjusting the sweetness according to your preference. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes until everything is well combined. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
-
Assemble the Drink: Once the milk mixture has cooled, it's time to assemble the Sago Jelly Milk drink. In serving glasses, add a layer of cooked sago pearls at the bottom. If using, add a layer of fruit-flavored jelly cubes on top of the sago pearls.
-
Pour the Milk Mixture: Carefully pour the cooled milk mixture over the sago pearls and jelly cubes, filling the glass almost to the top.
-
Add Ice and Garnish: To make the drink extra refreshing, add a few ice cubes to each glass. You can also garnish the drink with fresh fruits like sliced strawberries, mangoes, or kiwi for an added burst of flavor and color.
-
Serve and Enjoy: Give the drink a gentle stir to mix all the ingredients together. Serve immediately and enjoy the delightful combination of creamy milk, chewy sago pearls, and sweet jelly.
