Ingredients:
- 2 ripe mangoes (medium to large size)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (240 ml)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (60 grams)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon gelatin (or agar-agar for a vegetarian option)
- 1/4 cup water (60 ml) (for dissolving the gelatin)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mango Puree:
- Peel and chop the mangoes into small pieces.
- Blend the mango pieces in a blender or food processor until smooth to make mango puree.
- Add lemon juice to the mango puree and mix well. Set aside.
- Prepare the Gelatin:
- In a small bowl, add 1/4 cup of water and sprinkle the gelatin over it. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
- After 5 minutes, heat the gelatin mixture gently in a microwave or on a stovetop until the gelatin dissolves completely. Let it cool slightly.
- Whip the Cream:
- In a large mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract.
- Using an electric mixer, whip the cream until it forms soft peaks.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Combine Ingredients:
- Gently fold the mango puree into the whipped cream mixture.
- Add the dissolved gelatin to the mixture and gently fold until well combined.
- Chill the Mousse:
- Pour the mousse mixture into serving glasses or bowls.
- Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until set.
- Serve:
- Garnish with fresh mango slices, mint leaves, or a dollop of whipped cream before serving if desired.
